S.R. De Young is a writer, teacher, and independent publisher living in Southern Arizona. He’s the author of the Chambers of the Old Ones series, a blend of mystery, atmosphere, and the strange pull of landscapes that feel alive.
He spends his days teaching and enjoying life with his wife Angie and their Australian Terrier, Rory. Through Black Ridge Press, he publishes stories built on curiosity, wonder, and the belief that the world is far stranger — and far more beautiful — than it first appears.
The series began as a collection of desert notes — small observations, strange moments, and the feeling that some places remember more than they should. Over time, those fragments grew into a world where rivers carry stories, hills stir awake, and artifacts whisper warnings from across time.
When not writing, DeYoung explores the desert around Catalina, photographs forgotten trails, and collects the small details that eventually become part of the Chambers universe. The world expands one artifact, one memory, one discovery at a time.
